Glaucoma (Tonometry) Testing

A tonopen is used to measure intraocular pressure (IOP).  It is an important device in detecting glaucoma and other ophthalmic conditions.  With glaucoma, the pressure of the eye is elevated which causes pain and may even lead to blindness.  It is important to detect glaucoma in its early stages to prevent permanent damage.  Using a topical anesthetic, the IOP can be measured painlessly in only seconds.
