Dental disease not only affects an animal's breath, but it also affects their general wellbeing. Tartar and gingivitis can lead to bacteria entering the bloodstream, damaging the heart, liver and kidneys. 

Dental disease can also be very painful.  Animals will often still eat despite oral pain, so it can easily be overlooked. Some animals chew aggressively which can lead to fractured teeth which may need to be extracted.  Regular dental cleanings and preventative care will lead to a happier, healthier pet.
